According to a recorded statement released on Tuesday by his manager, Omenka Uzoma, the singer died in New York, United States of America.
“The legend has gone to meet with the Lord,” Uzoma said in a video uploaded by HipTV. “We should all celebrate him, his achievement.”
Uzoma did not immediately disclose the cause of death, which could be as a result of protracted illness as the artist has been sick for some years.
Majek’s 1988 album ‘Prisoner of Conscience’ and the single ‘Send Down the Rain’ became a major hit worldwide and garnered multiple awards.
