One in four people in England live with a long-term health condition like diabetes, cancer, Parkinson’s or arthritis. That’s 15 million people, and the figure is expected to rise to 18 million by 2025. Regular exercise can help manage the symptoms of these conditions, as well as improving physical and mental health, but it’s harder for people with long-term health problems to be active. Research has found that 69% of people with long-term health conditions would like to be more active, but they are twice as likely to be inactive as people without these problems.
