The Enugu State Football Association (ENSFA), has set aside May 27 for election of new officers as June 29 will end the existence of the incumbent Executive in the state.
The State FA ordinary General Assembly made the disclosure in Enugu on Monday in a meeting held at mixed zone of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Complex
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the association commended the governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his Midas touch in sports development especially with Rangers International Football Club.
The Assembly also commended Rangers International Football Club for its never say die spirit in the ongoing CAF Confederation cup and Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
They appealed to the fans and supporters of Rangers International FC to see the loss against Etoile du Sahel as a partial eclipse.
The assembly noted that the FA ongoing electoral processes should continue but be updated in line with the new time frame.
Boniface Onovo, the state’s Ministry of Youths and Sports Director Organising Committee, noted that reason for the congress was to move the state FA to another height and to plan for the forthcoming election of the association.
The ENSFA chairman, Chidi Offor-Okenwa said that there was need for the association to elect new executives that would paddle its affairs.
He also said that the election should be in line with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) guidelines for the election.
“It is expected that as soon as we finish our election, all other affiliates should as well conduct their own elections,” he said.
News24extra reports that representatives from all the 17 Local Government Councils, referees, female football representatives, NPFL and grassroots coaches attended the event.
